Mid-Missouri Business Week: Women’s Network helps growing number of women-owned businesses

The number of women starting businesses in Missouri is on the rise. As of the 2012 census, one-third of all businesses in the state are owned by women. The percentage has most likely increased since that count.

The Women’s Network with the Columbia Chamber of Commerce is an organization working to provide resources including leadership development, educational opportunities and outreach.

Later this month, the organization will also be opening up nominations for its ATHENA awards, which champion women professionals.

ABC 17’s Deborah Kendrick sat down with Krista Kippenberger, the chair-elect of the Women’s Network, to talk about the resources available, including monthly luncheons and biannual seminars.
