Tracking a drier pattern ahead

TODAY: Slightly cooler weather is in store for us today. With increasing clouds through the day, and a slight north breeze, temperatures will likely settle in the 80s, just slightly cooler than Thursday.

TONIGHT: Skies are cloudy overnight, and temperatures fall into the low-to-mid 60s.

EXTENDED: Most stay dry and cloudy on Saturday as atmospheric moisture is focused south of mid-Missouri, but a slight chance for showers will exist near I-44 and the lake Saturday afternoon. Saturday remains in the low 80s, but temperatures will slowly climb Sunday, and moisture starts to lift back north. This brings rain chances slightly farther north, with showers possibly reaching I-70. Sunday's highs reach mid-80s. By Monday, we'll be tracking a cold front to our north. This will bring a slight chance for rain, but the cold front will have trouble holding together all the way into mid-MO. Part of the reason for that is increasing upper level high pressure that will build to our south by early next week. This keeps us dry, and hot through midweek. Temperatures are in the upper 90s by Tuesday. A slight chance for rain pops up on Thursday as the rough makings of a cold front try to work against the high. Still temperatures remain well above average through the middle of next week.
