Boil water advisory issued for Jefferson City

Missouri American Water has lifted a boil advisory issued Wednesday for Jefferson City.

The utility issued the advisory after two water main breaks that affected service to about 5,500 customers. Water quality tests Thursday afternoon showed the water is safe to drink, the utility said in a release. Customers no longer need to boil water before drinking or cooking.
