Cool, dry Wednesday, rain and snow chance late Thursday
TONIGHT: Skies will become partly cloudy skiesand temperatures will drop to near 35 degrees, with areas of fog possible by morning. As you head out the door tomorrow morning, you’ll want to grab that coat. Wind chill values will fall to near 30 degrees, with winds out of the northwest up to 8 mph.
WEDNESDAY: Sunshine will stick around, but temperatures remain chilly through the entire day as highs top out in the upper 40s to low 50s with a northwesterly breeze up to 10 mph.
EXTENDED: Wednesday night will be colder, dropping to near 30 degrees. Clouds move back in Thursday, leading to a chance of rain by late afternoon. The dry air in place will eat away at the moisture as it moves in Thursday but by evening rain is possible along with some snow mixing in. After 9 pm, there could be a period of steady rain or possibly light snow which looks more likely north of I-70 overnight. Temperatures will fall Thursday night to freezing from north to south but not until after midnight. As the ground cools, it’s possible we could see minor snow accumulation mainly in grassy surfaces with up to a half inch possible north of I-70. By Friday morning, the snow ends but there could be some slushy light amounts of snow on less traveled roads which we’ll have to monitor. What’s certain is that much colder air tracks in Thursday and into the weekend. Thursday night we’ll drop into the upper 20s, only reaching the low 40s Friday with some sunshine. Another fast moving wave of low pressure will bring a chance of flurries or brief light snow Friday afternoon with the best chance east of HWY 63. No accumulation is expected from this. A hard freeze is expected Friday night as we dip to near 20 by Saturday morning. Right now the weekend looks dry but chilly as we remain in the lower 40s for highs and upper 20s to lower 30s for lows.
