Voters approve medical marijuana, reject gas tax

Voters approved one of three medical marijuana measures as well as an increase in the state’s minimum wage while rejecting a proposed gas tax in the midterm elections Tuesday. Here’s a full list of the results of the statewide ballot issues.

Amendment 1: APPROVED

Medical Marijuana Initiatives:

Amendment 2: APPROVED

4 percent sales tax on medical marijuana sales revenue would be spent on health care services for veterans Department of Health would regulate licensing and sales

Amendment 3: REJECTED

15 percent sales tax on medical marijuana sales money would fund cancer research center center would be operated and run by Dr. Brad Bradshaw

Proposition C: REJECTED

2 percent tax on medical marijuana sales revenue would be used for drug treatment, education, public safety Department of Health and Division of Liquor would regulate

Proposition D: REJECTED

would increase state’s gas tax by 10 cents over four years most of the money would go to the Missouri State Highway Patrol rest of revenue would go to local governments to use on roads Missouri gas tax has not increased since 1996

Proposition B: APPROVED

would gradually increase the state minimum wage to $12 per hour in 2023 begin with increase from current $7.85 to $8.60 in 2019

Amendment 4: APPROVED

would relax restrictions on advertising bingo games and on who can run those games
