Another round of rain Monday, Much colder air closes out the week

TONIGHT: We’ll see passing clouds overnight, with another round of overcast conditions building in after 2am. It’s chilly overnight, with temperatures dropping into the lower 40s. Winds are light out of the south at 5-8 mph.

MONDAY: Tomorrow looks to be a day we’re the umbrella will be a necessity. An area of rainfall will progress out of eastern Kansas through 7am tomorrow, bringing western portions of Mid-Missouri precipitation by 8am. Widespread rains filter in by 10am, lasting through 2 or 3 pm. Most scattered rain chances continue into the evening rush.

EXTENDED: Election day looks to remain mostly dry, but cloudy and cool. The latest data is picking up on a weak piece of energy tracking through later in the evening that could bring a couple rain showers… but the general trend is dry for much of the day Tuesday. Beyond that, things get interesting. Poring over the data show a fairly strong disparity between how much moisture accompanies a strong cold front that arrives Thursday. At this point in time, I think there’s a good shot for much of the viewing area to see, at the the very least, a few snow flakes Thursday afternoon and evening. Timing and precip intensity is still up in the air, as there is some uncertainty to the exact track. What’s much more clear at this time is that MUCH colder air tracks in Friday, into the weekend. Day time highs will be in the 30s, with nighttime lows approaching the lower 20s.
