Tracking heavy rain developing overnight
TONIGHT: Scattered showers and storms becoming more widespread north of I-70 overnight. Lows in the upper 60s.
TOMORROW: Scattered showers and storms with dry time in between. Highs near 90.
EXTENDED: Light showers continue to thin out the next few hours, but the lull won't last all night with another round of heavy rain developing along and north of I-70 where low level winds will be the strongest and most focused. Areas along and north of Highway 24 are in a flood watch through tomorrow morning as training storms could produce 1-3" of rain overnight into Tuesday morning. The severe threat is low, but a few storms at the onset after midnight could produce gusty winds. This batch of rain works its way east into Tuesday morning, and as a warm front lifts across Mid-Missouri, temperatures could reach near 90 degrees again tomorrow. Spotty showers and storms are possible through the day, but we get a good break until another round develops overnight along the frontal boundary into Wednesday morning. Most of Wednesday is looking dry, but could be hot with highs getting into the upper 80s to around 90. Our next best chance of widespread rain after tonight will be Wednesday night into Thursday morning as the front pushes south as a cold front. This will push most of the rain on Thursday to areas south of I-70, and bring temperatures back into the low to mid-80s. Friday and Saturday are looking awesome with the front to our south and temperatures topping out below average in the low to mid-80s. Sunday could bring another round of showers and a few storms, especially to areas across western and southwest Missouri.
