Cool, damp finish to the weekend
SUNDAY: We’re seeing some light showers on top of another cool morning in Mid-Missouri with temperatures in the middle to upper 40s. These showers are light in nature and will be exiting off toward the east throughout the morning. We will see a lull in the shower activity before seeing it pick up around 6 PM. We’ll warm up slightly near the 50 degree mark this afternoon even with mostly cloudy skies stubbornly hanging around.
TONIGHT: Behind this cold front, we’ll see rain lingering into the early morning hours for Monday along with those increased northerly winds. With more cold air rushing into Mid-Missouri, we could see a snowflake or two mix in with this cold rain in places north of HWY 24, with no travel impacts are expected. Overnight lows will fall to the mid to upper 30s.
EXTENDED: A gradual clearing trend will develop throughout the day on Monday as high pressure settles in behind the front. Winds out of the north around 10 mph will keep our temperatures from warming in the afternoon, with highs struggling to get back to 50 degrees. As that high pressure moves overhead Monday night, we’ll see winds relax and mostly clear skies, leading to widespread frost for the first time this Fall season. We could even be looking at a freeze as temperatures threaten the 32 degree mark for overnight lows, with counties north of I-70 seeing the better chance of freezing temperatures. For the rest of the week, the weather pattern calms down and we see a slow warming trend, with temperatures recovering to the low 60s by Thursday, with our next chance of rain holding off until Friday.
