Tracking pattern change to quell this heat wave

TODAY: Much like yesterday, and the day before, Thursday is shaping up to be another hot and sunny day. One small differentiator, is that Columbia may record it's first 100 degree day this year. Officially, 99 is the forecast for Thursday. Fortunately, this will come with dewpoints in the 50s, meaning we avoid feeling much hotter.

TONIGHT: Skies stay mostly clear, with a light breeze from the northeast overnight. Temperatures only fall into the low 70s by sunrise Friday.

EXTENDED: Friday looks similar, with highs a degree or two warmer. With moderate humidity, we will likely feel like 100-103. Saturday looks to be the hottest in the forecast. Temperatures are forecast at 102, with moderate humidity, this may be enough to make us feel as hot as 105 degrees. By Sunday morning, a stalling front will sit to our north, bringing increasing rain chances as it slowly drifts south. The best chance for rain sits north of I-70. This will knock us out of the triple digits likely, but Sunday is still expected to be warm, with highs in the upper 90s. More widespread rain chances move in Monday, with temps reflecting that in the forecast. Highs cool into the low 90s. Mid 90s with spotty rain chances remain through mid-week, brining as much as an inch of well needed rain to the area.
