Storms by Tuesday brings the threat for severe storms
MONDAY: Another dosage of heat and humidity takes hold on Columbus Day. Areas to the northwest may see a few early day scattered showers, but most areas stay dry as temperature rise through the mid 80s by the early afternoon. Accompanying that heat will be a stiff south breeze at 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 at times.
TONIGHT: Under mostly cloudy skies temperatures will drop into the upper 60s. Most areas stay dry, but we can’t rule out a spot storm through the night. Winds will be out of the southeast up to 8 mph.
EXTENDED: Our next chance of rainfall arrives by Tuesday evening, along a cold front is bringing an increasing chance at severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon & Tuesday night. Ahead of the main line that arrives Tuesday night, some isolated storms could bring the strong to severe storms. At the moment the primary threat looks to be strong winds and hail, but there looks to be enough wind shear in the atmosphere to warrant a concern for tornadoes as well. We have issued a Weather Alert Day. After the overnight storms roll through Tuesday, on going showers are possible into Wednesday with highs in the 60s.
