Prosecutors charge Columbia man following weekend shooting
BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Boone County Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against a Columbia man following a weekend shooting.
James A. Tatum III, 32, is charged in Boone County with felony counts of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The shooting happened outside several homes in the 800 block of Demaret Drive around 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, according to court documents.
Tatum is accused of shooting at another man following an argument with a woman. The man reportedly confronted Tatum outside a home after Tatum called the man a name.
The man told Boone County deputies Tatum pulled out a gun and started to shoot at him, according to court documents. Deputies said several bullet holes were found in the man's car, but no one was hurt.
After the shooting, Tatum reportedly left the area in a black car before he was arrested. Tatum is being held at the Boone County Jail on no bond.
Tatum could appear at a court hearing scheduled for him next Wednesday.
