Tracking continued heat, drought conditions

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and warm with lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with highs in the upper 90s. Heat index between 100-102.

EXTENDED:  Dew points remain in the mid-upper 60s the next few days, so while our temperatures will be 7-10 degrees warmer than normal every day, the heat index will hover between 100-103. A weak front moves through on Wednesday, but rain is not expected as it passes through. It will work to keep humidity lower with northwest winds, but highs still reach the upper 90s on Thursday with triple digits on the way Friday through Sunday. The upper pattern keeps rain and/or storms largely to our north through the weekend, but one or two may skirt by our northern counties between Friday and Saturday. Next week's pattern looks a bit more active as the jet stream shifts more northwesterly, allowing more disturbances to roll through our area.
