CPD cruiser crashes; no one injured

A Columbia police cruiser was involved in an off-street crash near Stadium Boulevard on Tuesday.

Few details about the crash were available Tuesday afternoon, but city spokesman Steve Sapp confirmed a Columbia Police Department officer was involved in a crash and that no one was injured. the crash happened at about 2 p.m. and appears to have happened in a parking lot near Stadium Boulevard and Interstate 70.

Photos of the crash circulating on social media Tuesday afternoon showed a CPD cruiser with heavy front end damage and a deployed airbag that had apparently crashed into a pole.
