The Austin American-Statesman dominated headlines nationwide this week when it released surveillance video from inside the elementary school in Uvalde where a gunman massacred children and teachers.

The newspaper defended its decision by saying it was in the public interest to release the video. But some officials were angry that the newspaper published the video before the victims' families had seen it.
