Man charged for attempting to create a pipe bomb
A Sedalia man was charged Tuesday after he allegedly tried to create a pipe bomb to use on his ex-wife and her boyfriend.
According to court documents, Cody Frank-Allen Lappat told his former sister-in-law he intended to “blow stuff up” at his ex-wife’s residence.
When police searched Lappat’s hom, they found a metal can that contained shell casings, two plastic containers with gun powder, six .22 caliber rounds, one rifle casing and one roll of black tape. Once police were able to detain Lappat, he declined to speak at the time.
However, two witnesses told police Lappat was building a pipe bomb to use against his ex-wife and her boyfriend.
Lappat is being held in the Pettis County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
