UPDATE: JCPD confirms one man hurt in Wednesday night shooting
UPDATE: A sergeant with the Jefferson City Police Department confirmed one person was hurt in a shooting Wednesday night.
Police said officers received numerous calls for gunfire on Elizabeth Street after 10 p.m.
Officers arrived and learned one man was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Police said the man was shot on Elizabeth Street and that numerous shell casings were found throughout the 1400 block. An empty vehicle was also struck, according to authorities.
Police said there is no suspect information available at this time.
Officers began clearing the scene just before midnight.
ORIGINAL: Jefferson City police responded to reports of shots heard on Wednesday night.
Officers blocked the 1400 block of Elizabeth Street at Myrtle Avenue around 10:15 p.m.
ABC 17 News crews on scene saw officers searching the ground and placing several evidence markers.
Officers were also seen talking to people in the area and looking at the sides of vehicles and buildings.
