Crews remove arena floor of Hearnes Center after flooding

Workers removed all of the wood panels of the arena floor of the Hearnes Center Thursday following flooding.

On Sept. 23, a water main broke causing water to get under the wood floor.

MU deputy athletic director Nick Joos initially said the damage will exceed $100,000. However, he now said the exact total is still to be determined.

Joos said crews will continue to clean debris and the arena area before a replacement floor goes in. He said he hopes to have more details soon.

The Mizzou volleyball team will be the next to use the Hearnes Center for a game. The Tigers are set to face South Carolina Oct. 5. Joos said they hope to have a decision whether or not the floor replacement will impact the team’s schedule by Friday.
