Chilly start to Thursday, another cold front Friday

TONIGHT: Clouds will gradually clear from the northwest to southeast overnight, lingering near I-44 until daybreak. Despite any clouds that do remain, it will be the coolest night we’ve seen since April 30. Overnight lows are expected to bottom out in the mid to upper 40s, with light winds out of the northeast.

THURSDAY: After a chilly morning, temperatures will climb into the low to mid 70s in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Winds will shift to the south up to 8 mph.

EXTENDED: Another cold front is forecast to move through the area Friday, which will bring the return to cooler conditions as we head into the weekend. For now the frontal passage looks to be fairly dry, as it will be starved of moisture. However, a few spot showers are possible across the northwestern parts of Mid-Missouri Friday evening through Saturday. Highs Saturday will only climb into the mid to upper 60s, with spot showers possible along and north of I-70. By Sunday and on into next week, the upper level ridge builds back over the area, which means the return of warmer air and afternoon highs in the 80s and nights warming into the 60s.There is a spot storm chance Monday and Tuesday but better storm chances move in next Wednesday night with a cold front that will cool us down for the end of next week.
