Mizzou forward Mitchell Smith suspended after DWI arrest

Police arrested Mizzou basketball player Mitchell Smith early Sunday morning on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

A team spokesperson says Smith will be suspended from team activities for at least one week.

According to police records, police arrested Smith at 3:35 a.m. and arrested him for possession of a suspended/revoked license as well. Smith was released on a $500 bond.

The redshirt sophomore did not play for the Tigers during the 2017-18 season, but he is expected to be a larger contributor in the upcoming season. A knee injury cut his freshman year short. He appeared in 11 games and averaged 2.4 points and 1.7 rebounds during the 2016-17 season.

Mizzou’s first game of the year is Nov. 6 against Central Arkansas.
