Jefferson City police rule deaths murder-suicide
UPDATE 10:25 A.M. THURSDAY: Jefferson City police have released the name of two people found dead in a home Wednesday.
Officers discovered Bobby Clines, 52, and his wife, Mary Clines, 46, dead from gunshot wounds inside the home in the 100 block of Garfield Street at about 4:17 p.m., police said. The Jefferson City Police Department is treating the incident as a murder-suicide and is trying to find a motive, the department said in a news release Thursday.
Autopsies have been scheduled and the case is still open, with detectives conducting follow-up investigations, police said.
ORIGINAL: The Jefferson City Police Department confirms it’s investigating the death of two people in the 100 block of Garfield Street.
Police said a husband and wife were found dead with gunshot wounds on Wednesday afternoon. Capt. Eric Wilde told ABC 17 News that a family member called police around 4:15 p.m. after checking on the at the home after the two had missed an appointment earlier in the day.
Police were not looking for other suspects as of Wednesday night, Wilde said, and did not believe there were any other crime scenes related to the two deaths. Wilde said detectives did not find any obvious signs of a break-in or other crimes.
