Car crashes into fence at Hickman High School

One car crashed into a fence at the baseball field of Hickman High School on Wednesday morning.

According to Columbia fire officials, crews responded to the scene just after 10 a.m. The Columbia Police Department was still on scene Wednesday morning.

ABC 17 News crews observed police searching the area, and the driver of the vehicle was placed in handcuffs. Police at the scene said he had minor injuries and refused treatment.

Officers found drug evidence in a trash bin near the car, but police did not give more details about the evidence.

Columbia Water and Light was at the scene, and people living in the neighborhood across Providence Road from Hickman said they had lost power. Power on still on at Hickman.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, police said.
