Man arrested after barricading himself in motel, makes threats to Moberly police

Moberly police said they were called to a motel Friday night for reports of a man causing a disturbance and threatening the motel staff.

Police said when they arrived at the Super 8 Motel on U.S. 24, they learned a man, who’s not yet been identified, was renting a room but caused a disturbance and was asked to leave.

The man allegedly threatened to kill motel staff after he was asked to leave.

Officers tried to make contact with the man, but they were also threatened by the suspect, according to police.

The man barricaded himself in the motel room, using all of the available locks to lock himself inside. Officers continued to make several attempts to reason with the man, but they were unsuccessful.

Officers were able to receive a search warrant for the room and eventually took the man into custody without further issues.

The man was taken to the Randolph County Jail on a preset bond approved by the Honorable Judge Cooksey of $10,000 cash only.
