Driver alert after SUV crash on I-70
A crossover SUV overturned after blowing a tire on Interstate 70 near the Highway 63 connector Monday evening, witnesses said.
Columbia Police were on the scene at 5:40 p.m., and the driver of the SUV was alert and walking.
Drivers were slowing down to see the crash’s aftermath. Authorities encouraged drivers to avoid the area if possible.
Stephen Love was walking his family on Clark Lane and told ABC 17 News it sounded like a loud explosion.
“It was loud. I was able to talk to her, she said she was fine but of course shaken up,” Love said.
At 6 p.m. Columbia police said all that was left was for a tow truck to pick up the vehicle.
ABC 17 News saw the driver leave the scene with someone she knew.
