Three rounds of storms possible through tomorrow evening

THURSDAY: A batch of showers and t-storms in western Missouri in the morning will slowly track to the east and gradually fall apart. Areas west of HWY 63 have the best chance of seeing rain during the day Thursday with a lower chance east. Clouds will keep us in the upper 70s to near 80 Thursday.

TONIGHT: A warm front lifting to the north will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms overnight. Nothing will be severe, but lightning and heavy downpours looks likely. Temperatures will hold into the low 60s through morning with winds transitioning out of the southeast up to 15 mph. Storms will track east of HWY 63 for the morning commute.

EXTENDED: Most of these will move out early Friday with drier weather in the early afternoon with high temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 80s. Skies will begin to clear as storms move eastward, which could allow for some stronger storms later in the day, primarily during the evening as a weak cold front moves in from the northwest. Ahead of this front, forecast models indicate a line of spotty storms developing in northern Missouri by 6 PM and gradually shifting to the south through the evening. The best chance of storms before 10 PM is north of I-70 and there is a chance a few could be severe. The main threats are damaging wind and large hail. For Sportszone Football Friday most areas will be dry, but we’ll watch areas north of I-70 for possible spot storms. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s at kickoff, cooling to near 80 by the 4th quarter. Much warmer air moves in behind the front and the weekend looks hot with highs in the low 90s Saturday and mid 90s Sunday under partly cloudy skies. It will also be humid this weekend and heat indices will reach as high as 103 degrees. The heat & dry weather continues through the middle of next week.
