Kansas City captures series win over Detroit
DETROIT, Mich. (KMIZ)
The Kansas City Royals secured the club's second series win in two weeks with a 7-4 victory over Detroit on Sunday.
The Tigers took game two away from KC with back-to-back home runs in the ninth inning on Saturday evening, however, the Royals bounced back at the plate in the rubber match. Both Edward Olivares and Emmanuel Rivera knocked out home runs in the second inning to help propel Kansas City to the win.
Royals pitcher Brady Singer had a solid outing through about four innings. He finished with nine strikeouts and two earned runs allowed.
Scott Barlow shined in relief for KC, as he tossed a perfect ninth inning 12th save of the season.
Up next - Kansas City will continue the road trip down to Houston to start up a three-game series against the Astros. First pitch in Monday's game is at 3:10 p.m.
