One hurt in Highway 54 crash

A Jefferson City man was injured Tuesday morning when his vehicle rear-ended a pickup truck on Highway 54 at the Missouri River bridge.

Jefferson City police were sent to the crash on the westbound bridge at 7:34 a.m., the department said in a news release. Samuel Greenline, 27, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet HHR and crashed into the back of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Richard Aubuchon, 41, of Jefferson City. Aubuchon and a 3-year-old passenger were not hurt, the department said.

Greenline told police he thinks he fell asleep on his way home from work, causing him to crash into the pickup that was stopped in traffic. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, though police did not detail the extent or severity of his injuries.

Westbound bridge traffic was restricted to one lane while emergency crews worked at the accident scene, police said.
