Cloudy and cool kick off to the school year

TUESDAY: Showers and a few t-storms will spread to the northeast in the morning and taper off by early afternoon, becoming more scattered from afternoon into early evening. Temperatures will only reach the upper 70s due to clouds and rain with south winds up to 10 mph.

TONIGHT: Rain chances decrease overnight with cloudy skies as temperatures drop into the upper 60s. Winds will be out of the southeast up to 8 mph.

EXTENDED: Rain will decrease Tuesday evening but another round of showers and t-storms look likely early in the day Wednesday, decreasing by evening with high temperatures near 80 degrees. Total rainfall amounts through Wednesday are expected to reach near an inch north of I-70 with some areas south of I-70 reaching close to 2 inches with pockets of 3 inches possible. Thursday looks drier and much warmer as we reach the mid to upper 80s. Another upper level wave will track through Friday and again for the weekend, keeping storm chances in the forecast each day as high temperatures reach the mid to upper 80s.
