Tracking triple digit heat indices for the first day of summer

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and comfortable with lows near 70.

TOMORROW: Hot and humid with highs in the upper 90s. Heat indices between 100-104.

EXTENDED: Moisture starts to stream back in tomorrow, sending dew points back into the mid-upper 60s. Along with the increased humidity, temperatures rise into the upper 90s with a heat index ranging between 100-104. A weak front settles to our north Tuesday night, gradually working its way in from the north through Wednesday, bringing a chance for showers and storms starting late Tuesday night. A few could be on the stronger side after midnight with small hail, but I am not expecting widespread coverage of storms. I have a slight chance of a shower or storm just about each day through the weekend, but the more likely chances will be with another cold front Saturday night into Sunday. Temperatures ease a bit behind the first front on Wednesday and Thursday with highs near 90, but we ramp back up again Friday and Saturday as we reach the mid-upper 90s. Sunday into Monday we'll start to see a pattern shift, with jet stream winds coming from the northwest to cool us back to near average in the 80s.
