Kentucky man flown to hospital after Cole County crash on Highway 54

COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Kentucky man was flown to a hospital Sunday night after a crash on Highway 54 in Cole County.

The crash happened in the westbound lanes near Old Bass Road around 6:20 p.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Raymond L. Thomas, 49, of Wingo, Kentucky was thrown from a motorcycle after he drove off the side of the highway and the motorcycle flipped over. Thomas was driving the motorcycle at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, according to the highway patrol.

Emergency crews flew Thomas to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. An MU Health Care spokesperson said Thomas is in fair condition as of Monday morning.

Troopers said Thomas wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
