Mexico house fire started by discarded smoking materials
A fire at a home in Mexico caused significant damage, and the Mexico Department of Public Safety said it was caused by the reckless disposal of smoking material.
Firefighters responded to the call around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. When they got there, the fire had spread from the back of the home to the attic, and an electric line had disconnected, which started several small fires in the backyard of the home.
The back part of the house had significant damage, and other areas of the home had some water and smoke damage.
Ameren was also at the scene to check the origin of the fire and make sure it was safe.
No one was hurt in the house fire, and the cause is still under investigation.
