Hy-Vee recalls pasta salad over possible salmonella contamination

Hy-Vee announced Tuesday it is voluntarily recalling certain pasta salads after people reported getting sick.

According to a press release, the company is recalling Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad because it may be contaminated with salmonella.

The company said it learned of the potential for contamination Monday night after approximately 20 illnesses in Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa were potentially linked back to people eating the salad.

The recall covers Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salads in both 16 oz. and 48 oz. containers produced between June 1 and July 13 and available from the deli service case. The expiration date range is between June 22 and Aug. 3.

The pasta salad was sent to all of Hy-Vee’s 244 grocery stores. Hy-Vee said it removed the product Monday night from all of its shelves and service cases.

Customers are encouraged to throw the salad away or return it to their local Hy-Vee store for a full refund. If you have questions about this recall, you can contact Hy-Vee at 1-800-772-4098.
