Storm chances this afternoon, but relief looks to be on the way

TODAY: Most of us will stay dry this morning aside from a rogue shower or two still holding on south of interstate 70. As we head into the afternoon hours, we could see some more showers and storms develop east of HWY 63, but doesn’t look to be as widespread as yesterday’s storms. Temperatures will make it into the low 90s west of HWY 63, where we will see less cloud cover in the afternoon. East of HWY 63 will be a little more seasonal, in the upper 80s to near 90.

TONIGHT: Any showers or storms that do develop in the afternoon hours will exit off toward the east in the evening, leaving partly cloudy skies overnight. Lows will drop into the low 70s once again with calm winds.

EXTENDED: We will see one more warm day to start the work week before we start to see a bit of a change to the weather in Mid-Missouri. Temperatures look to climb into the low 90s before another front slides through the area. We could see some storms popping up in the afternoon hours as it does so but nothing severe. That front will bring in some more pleasant conditions on Tuesday. Temperatures will top out in the middle to upper 80s, but lower humidity values will feel better than we’ve seen for much of the summer so far. We’ll stay pleasant through Wednesday before another system enters the region. Wednesday night and into Thursday looks to be our best shot of seeing some much-needed widespread rainfall this week.
