Heat holds on through the weekend

***Heat Advisory until 8 PM Saturday for most of Mid-Missouri***

FRIDAY: The work week will end with mostly sunny skies and hot, humid weather as high temperatures reach the mid to upper 90s with heat indices 100-105. Winds will come in from the south up to 8 mph. We can’t rule out slight chance for an isolated storm through the afternoon, but most areas will be dry and anything we see will be brief.

TONIGHT: Under partly cloudy skies temperatures drop back into the 70s. It will remain dry, but muggy with winds out of the southeast from 5-7 mph.

EXTENDED: The heat wave continues through the weekend, with highs in the low to mid 90s and heat indices 100-105 through Sunday. Our next chance of storms arrives Saturday afternoon with widely scattered storms possible. Severe storms are not expected. Storms are possible Saturday night into early Sunday morning, pushing south of I-70 early Sunday. As a cold front moves south Monday, we’ll continue to see a chance of storms and temperatures will cool down a bit, to near 90 Monday. Tuesday looks dry with highs near 90, dropping to the upper 80s Wednesday with a slight storm chance. The weather pattern remains active into the second part of next week. Thursday a MCS could impact our southern counties through the afternoon, bringing more much needed rainfall. Check back with ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and updates throughout the week.
