Tracking above-average heat and another chance of storms

KMIZ

TODAY: Hot and muggy with highs in the mid-90s. Heat index in the low 100s. Storms move in late tonight.

TOMORROW: Storms exit early morning for another warm summer day. Highs in the low to mid-90s.

EXTENDED: A stalled front to our north will pull in gusty south winds today to increase moisture and ramp up the heat index. Highs reach the mid-90s with the feels-like between 100-103. Another round of strong storms could develop around sunset again near I-70, with damaging winds between 50-60 mph and 1" hail. Storms will likely hold on after midnight, but diminish toward sunrise. Hot temperatures hang on the rest of the week with heat indices near 100 the next 3 days. Over the weekend dewpoints drop into the lower 60s, bringing down the heat index. Highs remain in the 90s Saturday and Sunday with plenty of sunshine, so don't forget sunscreen as the UV index will be high. Next week is even hotter to start off with highs in the upper 90s to around 100 and a heat index topping 105 in some spots. The pattern begins to shift a bit toward the middle and end of next week with increasing chances for rain.
