Heat Advisory continued into Saturday for counties

TODAY: Sunshine will be abundant and so will the heat and humidity as temperatures climb into the mid to upper 90s this afternoon. The humidity will make it feel closer to 105, with highest heat indices across Central Missouri. Winds will stay light, out of the southeast up to 10 mph.

TONIGHT: With skies remaining clear tonight temperatures will drop into the low to mid 70s. Muggy conditions stick around with a slight breeze out of the east from 6-10 mph.

EXTENDED: The heat wave continues through the weekend, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat indices 100-105 through Sunday. Our next chance of storms arrives Saturday afternoon with widely scattered storms possible. We’ll also have a chance of storms Sunday afternoon. Severe storms are not expected. As a cold front moves south Monday, we’ll pick up a better chance of storms and temperatures will cool down a bit, to near 90 Monday and upper 80s Tuesday. Humidity will drop as well, which will help make it feel more comfortable by next week. The active pattern is likely to stick around through most of next week, as the upper level ridge of high pressure retreats to the west, allowing waves of low pressure to move through. This will give us occasional storm chances and keep our high temperatures in the 80s most of next week. Check back with ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and updates throughout the week.
