Hot, humid holiday, cooling Friday

***A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM WEDNESDAY FOR MOST OF MID-MISSOURI***

TONIGHT: The warm and muggy conditions return tonight, with lows only bottoming out in the mid 70s. Southeasterly winds up to 9 mph, will continue to reinforce the humid conditions through the night.

WEDNESDAY: Independence Day will be hot and humid with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and heat indices up to 105 in the afternoon. It looks mainly dry with only an isolated storm possible during the late afternoon. For evening fireworks displays, it will be warm with temperatures in the low to mid 80s and light winds under 5 mph.

EXTENDED: Heading into Thursday, we’ll have a slight storm chance mainly north of I-70 and highs in the lower 90s and heat indices 100-104 degrees. As a cold front moves into northern Missouri, storms are possible along and north of I-70 into the evening but will end overnight. The front heads south Friday morning, with best shower chances south of I-70 from mid-morning Friday through mid-afternoon. Showers and isolated storms will be spotty. It will be cooler Friday, reaching the upper 80s with rain chances ending by late afternoon. It will be cooler and drier as we head into the weekend, as highs only top out in the mid 80s Saturday and upper 80s Sunday with lower humidity and plenty of sunshine.
