Jefferson City man charged after Saturday robbery

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man is accused of stealing $300 from a 17-year-old with the use of a gun.

A Cole County prosecutor has charged Devione Hallmon with first-degree robbery, attempted delivery of a controlled substance – minor to purchase or transport, unlawful use of a weapon – subsection 4 - exhibiting and armed criminal action.

On Saturday morning, Jefferson City police responded to the Breaktime at 326 Ellis Blvd. after a reported personal robbery.

The victim told police that Hallmon had used a gun to threaten him and force him to give Hallmon $300, according to court documents.

The victim later told police he knew Hallmon through Snapchat and that Hallmon had allegedly sold him marijuana previously. The victim said that they were planning to meet up at the Breaktime and Hallmon allegedly picked him up and drove him to the gas station. While there the victim went inside to get cash and that is when Hallmon allegedly took a gun and pressed the barrel into the victim's torso and demanded the money, according to a probable cause statement.

Police located Hallmon in his vehicle at 7:38 a.m. of E. Dunklin St. and Madison St. along with a passenger, according to the probable cause statement. Hallmon and the passenger were detained and taken into custody.

After being read their Miranda rights, the passenger and Hallmon spoke with detectives. The passenger told police that she had been with Hallmon all night and day and was at the hospital with him from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. She reportedly fell asleep and was in the back seat and doesn't remember picking up the victim.

Hallmon does not have a defense attorney listed according to online court records.

Hallmon is being held without bond at the Cole County Jail. Hallmon was denied bond due to being a danger to the community, is considered a flight risk and saying no contact with a victim according to online court documents.

Hallmon was arraigned on Monday.
