Boonville Police Department: Internal skimmer device found inside of local gas pump

The Boonville Police Department released information Friday about a local gas station technician finding an internal skimmer device inside of a gas pump.

“It is unknown at this point in the investigation how many people will be affected, if any at all,” said the release.

The Boonville police also issued the following advice:

We want to remind you that before you pay at the pump, inspect the pump, checking for any external skimmer devices at the card reader and/or cameras mounted over head or in such a way as to capture video of the key pad where you might have to enter your PIN or zip code. Also, inspect the seals on the service doors of the pump and if they are broken, missing, or look suspicious use a different pump and report that to the attendant.
