New Bloomfield mayor, city council meet for first time

UPDATE: The first New Bloomfield city council meeting with Mayor Terry Shaw went smoothly, according to some residents.

ABC 17 News attended the meeting and spoke with people after, including one person who said it was the best city council meeting they had seen.

“I couldn’t do everything in one meeting. I know there’s a lot of hurt feelings and a lot of animosity,” Shaw said. “I didn’t expect for it to all disappear overnight but I am hoping we chipped away a little bit.”

ORIGINAL: The New Bloomfield City Council meets at 6 p.m. Thursday at the City Hall for the first time since the new mayor took office June 4.

New Bloomfield resident Cheri Wilson stated she plans to give Mayor Terry Shaw a chance to run the city but will find out more once Thursday’s meeting is over.

Shaw stated he is asking for residents to give him and council a chance to lead the city and during Thursday’s meeting, he plans to be transparent with those needing answers.
