Columbia set to start summer schedule for trash collection

The City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility will start its summer schedule in an effort to prevent heat-related injuries.

The city said the summer schedule will allow collection crews to finish before the peak of afternoon heat. This means trash and recycle should be put on the curb no later than 6:30 a.m. on each designated collection day. The city said residents may also place materials curbside as early as 4 p.m. the day before.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for the free COMO Recycle and Trash app to get reminders and notifications about residential collection.
