Hot Weather Continues on Monday

TONIGHT: It’s going to be a quiet night for most of us as temperatures only dip into the lower 70s for lows. The one exception would be our northeastern-most counties, who have a slight chance of seeing some showers and thunderstorms.

MONDAY: Warm overnight temperatures are going to set the stage to see afternoon high soar into the middle 90s across Mid-Missouri. Winds will be out of the south at 5-10 mph, helping mix in moisture to push heat indices into the 100-104 degree range.

EXTENDED: A cold front will approach the region Monday night and bring with it a chance of thunderstorms. Storms that form out ahead of the front Monday evening will be the strongest, and then track toward our viewing area, weakening after the sun sets. As the front slides into Mid-Missouri, we will be looking at a slight risk for for severe hail and wind to the northwest, with only a marginal risk of severe weather east of HWY 63. Once this front makes it through the region, we will see slightly more tolerable conditions for Tuesday. But this relief will be short-lived as the humidity returns later in the week. Temperatures will hover in the upper 80s to low 90s as we head into next weekend, with spotty chances of showers and thunderstorms staying in the forecast through Thursday.
