Columbia/Boone County health department to hold ‘comfort’ vaccine clinic as state report shows case increases
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services Department is set to host a vaccine "comfort clinic" this weekend.
The clinic is scheduled to take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the health department at 1005 W. Worley St. in Columbia. Patients will be provided with several anxiety-reducing activities as well as private rooms, according to the health department.
The clinic is open to all ages and all COVID-19 shots will be offered as the department will be able to administer either a primary dose or a booster dose.
Patients will need an appointment to attend Saturday's clinics. Appointments can be found on the health department's website.
The clinic comes as the latest state profile report for Missouri shows increases in COVID-19 numbers.
The report shows 12,756 new cases reported and a 74% increase from the previous week. The state's positivity rate also ticked up 3.5% from the previous week's report, showing a rate of 16.5%.
New COVID-19 deaths in the state were down, however, as the Show-Me State reported 15 coronavirus-related deaths, a 59% decrease.
All counties in mid-Missouri remained in the low transmission level in the latest report, while the state reported one new county in the high transmission level, which is St. Louis.
