TONIGHT: A calm and clear night is ahead as low temperatures drop into the low to mid 60s by morning with a light southerly breeze up to 5 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny skies and a light southerly breeze will up to 8 mph will boost temperatures to near 90 in the afternoon. It will start to feel a bit humid as dew points climb into the lower 60s.

EXTENDED: We are watching a series of upper level disturbances developing along a growing ridge of high pressure aloft over the central plains. With the growing ridge we are going to continue to see days reaching 90 degrees with increasing humidity. As one of these disturbances passes to our north, there is a slight chance a cluster of storms could track into northwestern mid-Missouri Wednesday night mainly affecting areas north of HWY 24 as they fall apart. There is also a chance of afternoon storms Thursday with the best chance north of I-70. Storm chances increases by Friday night and Saturday as a weak front wavers across the area. There is also a slight storm chance Sunday as high temperatures reach the upper 80s to near 90 this weekend with heat indices as high as the mid 90s. We’ll continue to track any thunderstorm risks headed into that timeframe. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
