Fisherman finds car in Perche Creek

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was called to investigate after a car was found in Perche Creek Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters with the Boone County Fire Protection District said they were originally called to the area off South Old Plank Road just before 4 p.m. after a fisherman found the car with sonar equipment.

Firefighters confirmed a car was in the water, but said they didn’t know if anyone was hurt or inside the car. The Highway Patrol was called in to retrieve the car.

Locals tell ABC 17 News the car has been in the water for decades. Troopers confirmed the car looked old.

The Highway Patrol said divers may return to the scene in a few days.
