Tracking widespread storms overnight

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with storms becoming widespread after midnight. A few storms may be strong with isolated 50-60 mph wind gusts and heavy rain. Lows in the mid-upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Showers and storms exit early, with northwest winds allowing the humidity to ease. Highs in the upper 70s with decreasing clouds throughout the day.

EXTENDED: Most of our evening remains quiet with an isolated storm possible before midnight. The main show comes as a complex of storms racing out of northern Kansas and eastern Nebraska dives in from the northwest after midnight, bringing the potential of heavy rain and isolated strong wind gusts to most of the area before sunrise. Storms will likely push east of the viewing area between 5-8AM. However, most areas end up with 0.5" to 1"+ of rain by tomorrow morning as storms exit east. Winds shift to the northwest during the day, clearing skies and dropping humidity for a pleasant late afternoon and evening. Thursday is looking dry as high pressure briefly moves in overhead, but another disturbance rolls in late Thursday night into Friday, bringing a shot at rain and storms early in the day. Rain will clear up for the weekend, leaving beautiful weather on Saturday and Sunday as highs reach the upper 70s to around 80. Monday will mark our last chance for measurable rain for awhile as a weak disturbance slides across the Midwest, potentially bringing a few showers and storms. Temperatures will be on the rise as upper high pressure builds across the eastern half of the country with the jet stream lifting north. Temperatures rise into the upper 80s on Monday and into the 90s by Tuesday, with a dry pattern expected much of next week.
