Patchy fog tonight; Hot & humid Friday
TONIGHT: Any spotty storms this evening will quickly come to an end with the loss of daytime heating. This will lead to clearer skies through the night, with the mild and humid conditions to continue. Areas that saw heavy rain this morning will also see the chance for some patchy fog to develop. Otherwise, it will be a mostly clear night with temperatures bottoming out near 70 degrees.
FRIDAY: Any patchy fog for the morning commute will quickly lift after sunrise, as the high sun angle and hot conditions return to the region. Highs are expected to top out in the lower 90s into the afternoon hours under passing clouds. The recent rains and high humidity will certainly make it feel hot outside, as heat indices climb into the mid and upper 90s. Winds will remain out of the west up to 8 mph.
EXTENDED: The ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day for Saturday. We’re tracking an MCS developing across Nebraska/Iowa Saturday morning and pushing into northern Missouri early Saturday afternoon. The storm may weaken slightly, but the MCS is expected to restrengthen along a frontal boundary as the atmosphere de-stabilizes into the afternoon in Mid-Missouri, where we could see widespread strong storms lasting into the evening. Right now the SPC is highlighting most of Mid-Missouri having a decent chance for severe storms with a marginal and slight threat. This brings the primary concern for damaging hail and strong winds, however updates may be needed as severe risk could increase with more data coming in. Storms are expected to clear out by late Saturday night, with dry and fairly seasonably conditions to return by Sunday. All of next week looks to be dry with rising temperatures back into the upper 80s by Thursday.
