Storms today with a brief break before more activity tomorrow
THURSDAY: Widespread storms are expected for the morning commute, with a few strong storms possible. Storms are expected to weaken through the morning, with a debris of clouds expected to stick around. This will likely keep temperatures slightly cooler than initially expected. A marginal risk for severe storms is possible Thursday afternoon, as storm redevelopment is possible near I-44. The main threat for any storms will be golf ball size hail, also with the threat for some damaging wind. However, afternoon storms are hinge on if the atmosphere can recover following the storms from Thursday morning. The more sunshine we see the more likely for strong redevelopment. Highs are expected to top out in the middle 80s.
TONIGHT: Storms will continue to push to the east after the early evening leading to drying and clearing conditions overnight. Clouds will clear as overnight lows drop into the upper 60s by morning with a calming wind.
EXTENDED: The hot and humid conditions return Friday, as brief ridging slides into Mid-Missouri. This will lead to highs once again climbing into the lower 90s with sunny skies. However, the humidity will make it feel more like the mid to upper 90s. Heading into Saturday, a few storms are possible in the morning but a better chance comes in the afternoon and early evening as a weakening MCS tracks out of Iowa. The MCS is expected to redevelop along a frontal boundary in Mid-Missouri, where we could see widespread strong storms lasting from Saturday afternoon into the evening. Right now the SPC is highlighting most of MId-Missouri having a decent chance for severe storms with a marginal and slight threat. This brings the primary concern for damaging hail and strong winds, however updates may be needed as severe risk could increase with more data coming in. Storms are expected to clear out by late Saturday night, with dry and fairly seasonably conditions to return by Sunday. Stay tuned to ABC 17 for the latest updates to the forecast.
