Better rain chance Thursday, severe threat

TONIGHT: We’ll only drop to the upper 60s overnight under partly to mostly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of rain toward daybreak and into early Wednesday morning as weakening storms from the west move through.

WEDNESDAY: After a spot shower or storm chance in the early morning, we’ll have partly cloudy skies and another warm, humid day as temperatures climb into upper 80s. Isolated storms are possible in the afternoon but most areas will stay dry.

EXTENDED: Rain is possible Thursday morning as weakening storms move in from southeast Kansas. The best chance of morning rain is south of I-70. In the afternoon, storms are expected to develop as an upper level wave moves through. There is a marginal severe threat Thursday afternoon for isolated storms with damaging wind and large hail. Highs will reach the upper 80s Thursday but will climb into the lower 90s Friday as mostly sunny skies return. Heading into Saturday, a few storms are possible in the morning but a better chance comes in the afternoon and early evening as an area of low pressure moves in from the west. Storms are expected to develop with the best chance along and east of HWY 63 Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s Saturday but will drop into the lower 80s Sunday behind this storm system, giving us some relief from the hot weather weather we’ve seen recently.
