Crews respond to water main break in Columbia

UPDATE: The City of Columbia confirmed there was a leak in a twelve inch water line at Scott Boulevard and Vawter School Road Friday. Crews isolated the leak and restored water to the area by 4:30 p.m.

The city said boil advisories are not expected, but hang tags will be distributed if necessary.

If customers experience additional issues Friday night or over the weekend, they are asked to call the emergency after hours number: 573-875-2555.

ORIGINAL: Columbia Water and Light responded to a water main break Friday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched to the 1400 block of Vawter School Road around 2 p.m.

ABC 17 News is working to confirm what caused the water main break.
