Storms Friday, hot & humid weekend
TONIGHT: A few evening storms are possible but will end by midnight. Storms will move in from Kansas after 4 AM, affecting areas west of HWY 63 by daybreak. These are not expected to be severe. Lows will drop into the upper 60s with light southerly winds.
FRIDAY: Morning showers and storms will track to the southeast and end by early afternoon Clouds will thin out and temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 80s Friday afternoon with heat indices near 90. There is a slight chance of new storms popping up late in the afternoon and some of these could be strong to severe. Damaging wind and large hail are the main threats.
EXTENDED: Overnight Friday a developing storm system could be affecting our southern counties by Saturday morning, again the best chance looks to be south of I-70 in the Ozarks. Saturday will be hot and humid with high temperatures near 90 and heat indices up to 97 degrees. There is a slight storm chance late in the afternoon and evening but most areas will stay dry and hot Saturay. Memorial Day weekend is looking to remain on the toasty side, as highs climb into the low 90s under mostly sunny skies and nights in the upper 60s. Heat indices (what if feels like when combining humidity and temperature) will reach into the upper 90s. Storms are not expected Sunday or Monday.
